Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy welcomes pupils from nursery age to Year 2. As our pupils grow, so will the school, every year, up to Year 6. For the academic year 2025/2026, Nursery & Rising 3 pupils are entitled to attend on a full-time basis, they will also be able to access a free school lunch.
Our catchment area covers Monmouth and the surrounding towns and villages, as there are fewer Welsh-medium schools in Monmouthshire our catchment area is wider. If you have questions please contact the School and Student Access Unit on 01633 644508 or email accesstolearning@monmouthshire.gov.uk.

If you chose to move your child/ren to Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy during the academic year then you need to complete an in-year School Transfer Application which is available via the council’s website: monmouthshire.gov.uk
All pupils, including our nursery pupils are entitled to a free school lunch, thanks to the Universal Free School Meal scheme in Wales. The menu can be found below. We ask that all families book pupil lunches in advance using ParentPay, please see the guide below for instructions on how to book a lunch.

Pupils can access the breakfast club on site, run by Overmonnow Primary from 8:10 – 8:50 a.m daily. Breakfast Clubs costs £2 per pupil per day before 8.30am, attendance is free after 8.30am.
There is also an after-school care club until 5:00pm (5.30pm by prior arrangement) from Monday to Thursday for pupils from Meithrin class upwards. There is a cost of £11/£12 per session. A healthy snack is offered along with a variety of activities. This is run by Celyn Childcare, who can be contacted via email celynchildcare@gmail.com

In addition to this, school will close for six other days for In Service Training purposes (INSET days). You will be informed of these as soon as they are set. This calender meets with statutory regulations of 195 days, including 189 with pupils in attendance and six training days.
We kindly ask you to take any holidays during school holiday time to avoid any negative effect on your child’s learning.
